Weight Loss for 2010

Well, since we’re now in March and the weather is brightening up again, I figured it was time I start preparing my plans to continue what I started last year in the realm of getting healthy and losing weight.

I was pretty successful last year, from the beginning of March till September I had lost about 27 pounds. Now, over the winter I have been more of less hibernating – partially owing to the lack of exercise equipment at home and my unwillingness to join a gym. I have gained back about 8 pounds – most of it over the holidays. That said, I don’t feel I’ve done too badly.

My plan for this year is pretty similar to last year, that is to start (or continue, rather) being careful about what goes in the mouth and also beefing up the old exercise regimen. I had guaranteed myself a walk of at least three miles at least once a day last year, and plan to start that again – since it’s so convenient to dere here at home/ I did a little hiking last year as well, and I hope to do more this year, however that is more contingent on my car than myself.

Speaking of the car, I’ve just had to have my first repair of the year – the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley had to be replaced. This wasn’t as bad as some repairs in the past, and hopefully it’s the last I need for awhile. The car will probably be decommissioned in 2011 and while I’ll re-evaluate a replacement at that time I am becoming a fan of the new Ford Fiesta…but at least by waiting that car will have a year to gestate on the American roads before I give it a serious look.

We’ll see what happens, I’m already gearing up for the weight loss food regimen that worked fairly well for me last year – when I stuck to it. I’ve done a good job of avoid candies and sodas (though I do enjoy some Seltzer+Torani Syrup now and then, and it’s healthier than soda because there’s fewer odd chemicals). My primary vice now sems to be donuts, which I would never buy on my own – but are frequently brought in to the office. It’s really just a matter of self control – and I’m sure I can exercise that. The goals for this year is: 175 pounds.

That’s it for now,

Adam
