About
This is my blog.
I’m a little odd, I enjoy the latest and greatest technical creations, but I have acres of respect for the old ways of doing things too. I like a little mix of the old and the new.
Music I enjoy (Artists):
Twila Paris, Darlene Zschech, Michael W. Smith, Michael Crawford, Elmer Bernstein, Ennio Morricone, Frank Sinatra, Schubert, Henry Mancini, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith, Jimmy ‘Schnozzle’ Durante, John Williams, Josh Groban, Joshua Bell, Kate Smith, Keith Green, Louis Armstrong, Luciano Pavarotti, Mantovani (and Orchestra), MercyMe, Mark Schultz, Sarah Brightman, Sibelius, Vanessa Mae, Virgil Fox.
In particular, I am a huge fan of these songs:
Widor’s Organ Symphony No. 5 in F Minor – Toccata
Widor’s Organ Symphony No. 6 in G Minor – Allegro
Boellmann’s Suite Gothique for Organ – Toccata
Remember Me – Mark Schultz
Music of the Night – Michael Crawford
There Is A Redeemer – Keith Green
How Beautiful – Twila Paris
Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy
I Dreamed A Dream and Bring Him Home – Les Miserables
Favorite TV Shows:
I’ve always enjoyed classics like I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, and so on.
From the more modern era, I enjoy House, NCIS, Top Gear, Jeeves and Wooster, and Cosby.
Favorite Films:
I’ve always enjoyed Jurassic Park, partially because the of the story (always loved dinosaurs) and partly out of sheer respect for the oodles of effects work. I also enjoy ALL the Abbott and Costello films, the Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes series. I rather enjoyed the storyline behind The Dark Knight, and the new Star Trek film. Night at the Museum was all right, as was Wall·E. Independence Day, The Hunt for Red October, Crimson Tide, The Adventures of Robin Hood (with Errol Flynn), and The Fugitive (with Harrison Ford) were all pretty good. My all-time favorite film, however, is probably Captain Blood (starring Errol Flynn) OR Santa Fe Trail (starring Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan).
As far as film music goes, it’s Goldsmith, Zimmer, E.W. Korngold, Williams, or Poledouris any day – I love big orchestral scores.
Favorite books:
Well, we can start with my Bible top of the list. I’m rapidly becoming a fan of the Jeeves and Wooster series by P.G. Wodehouse. I admittedly still read the original Hardy Boys or Tom Swift series now and then when I need a mental break. I’m working my way through several classics by Robert Louis Stevenson, Jules Verne, Dostoyevsky, Dickens, etc. I’ve read every Sherlock Holmes story/book out there and enjoy them a great deal.
Well, that’s all my favorite stuff. I’m a photographer, musician, engineer, and all-round good guy who has more projects than time and money, but I have as much fun as I can anyways!
